How to Make a Pizza – Step by Step Instructions

Posted by event on April 6, 2012

For whatever who loves pizza, learning to make their own at home is a major step forward. While cafeteria pizza may be good, homemade pizza can be great! Moreover, despite what you may believe, manufacture your own pizza is easy.

Not only can you originate the gastronome pizza of your dreams at home, it will save you a lot of money. Think of the cost of getting takeout pizza over the course of a year… Most pizza restaurants fee around for a hot, fresh pizza. If you had pizza twice a month for a year (assuming you only need one pizza each time), you would still be spending 4 per year on pizza alone. Duplicate that if you have kids and need a minimum of two pizzas each time. Why not make them at home and save money?

Recipe for Homemade Pizza

How to Make a Pizza – Step by Step Instructions

What You Need

  • 1-1/2 cups warm water (105 to 115 degrees F)
  • 1 container active dry yeast
  • 3-1/2 cups bread flour
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Cornmeal
  • Tomato sauce
  • Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • Mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • Bell peppers, seeded and sliced
  • Pepperoni, thinly sliced

How to Make It

To make the dough, put the warm water in the bowl of an electric mixer. Sprinkle the yeast into the water and let it sit for a few minutes so the yeast dissolves. Stir if needed.

Mix in the olive oil, salt, sugar, and flour on low for about a minute. Knead the dough by hand or with a dough hook on the mixer until the dough is elastic and smooth. This takes about 10 minutes. Add more flour if the dough is too wet.

Place your dough into a lightly oiled bowl, turning the dough so it gets coated in oil. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit in a warm place until it doubles in size. This may take about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. After rising, you can use the dough or frost it for time to come use.

If you have a pizza stone, warm it in the oven as it preheats to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remove the plastic cover from the pizza dough and punch it down so it deflates. Divide the dough ball in half, forming two round balls. Place each ball in its own oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let them sit for 10 minutes.

Get your toppings ready. Try not to overdo your toppings or your crust will end up soft.

Take one ball of dough and flatten it with your hands on a floured surface. Begin in the town and work out towards the edges. You want the dough to end up about 1/2 inch thick. Turn the dough and stretch it until it will not stretch any more. Let the dough relax for 5 minutes, then continue until your pizza dough is the size you want. Pinch the edges if you want a lip to form on the crust.

Brush the top with olive oil. Make dents with your fingers along the face to preclude bubbling during cooking. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes. Repeat dough establishment with the second dough ball.

Sprinkle cornmeal on your pizza stone. Lay out your pizza dough and fast cover the pizza with a dinky tomato sauce. Add your toppings and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Let the pizza rest for a integrate of minutes after baking before you slice it. Enjoy!

Plastering Tips and Techniques For the Diy Plasterer

Posted by event on April 4, 2012

If you are a beginner to plastering then before starting any plastering job be sure to consider these tips and techniques for permissible job preparation.

1. Pick Your Area: If you are a novice plasterer then you might prefer to start in a spare bedroom with an existing poor conclude that can only be made great which will greatly sell out the stress on you. Remember, you can plaster skim the walls as many times as you like so you can always go over a not so exquisite job later as you get better.

Hand Kitchen Mixer

Plastering is largely a matter of confidence and you may prefer to start in a low-pressure environment first before hitting your own walls for the first time. However, don’t worry, providing you have a decent plastering procedure to corollary then you will find that this is not a long studying curve and you will be amazed how good your first results come out.

Plastering Tips and Techniques For the Diy Plasterer

Remember: 90% of plastering is having the confidence and sticking to what we at Mastering Plastering call the “Golden Formula” to the letter.

2. Ensure A Good supply of Water: If cleanliness is next to Godliness then plastering is the holy trade! Ask any plasterer and you will be told the same thing, keep your equipment very clean and most importantly clean as you go.

As you will have no doubt noticed, mixed plaster sets very hard and sets quite fast. You might have visions of washing dried plaster off buckets and equipment after you have terminated your job or leaving it until tomorrow but trust me, dried plaster sticks like stone and you need to clean wholly and continually as you go.

There are reasons for this:

* Plaster cleans off much more unquestionably when wet.

* Plastering equipment will regularly need replacing if plaster is not cleaned off with water before it dries and this can get high-priced and is wasteful.

* Any flecks of dried plaster in your buckets or on your equipment from old sessions will later break off to contaminate hereafter batches of plaster. This can spell disaster as these limited gremlins will cause streaks or “pulls” in your conclude causing you endless dissatisfaction and poor results.

* Contamination in new batches of plaster can corollary in the drying time of plaster being adversely affected as you will learn and this will cause chaos to applying the “Golden Formula” as used by most plasterers.

* Contaminated plaster can’t be used and will need to be disposed of  costing time and money.

* A good tradesman is a tidy one and sloppy processes lead to sloppy work and unhappy customers.

To ensure a clean job you will need a good supply of clean fresh water. This can be a question on some building sites where there is no running water. Also, because plaster and plasterers can get messy you should avoid using your own or your customer’s kitchen sink where possible. Fill fullness of buckets of water in strengthen for mixing and cleaning and remember that plaster can block drains so avoid flushing too much plaster slurry down the drains. Dispose of water dirty with plaster down a main outdoor drain not a sink drain (we haven’t yet written Mastering Plumbing!). In particular, always keep your buckets and trowel clean and ensure you only use perfectly clean water for mixing with plaster.  As a rule, if you wouldn’t drink it don’t use it for mixing plaster.

Only ever use clean and very fresh water for mixing plaster.  If you don’t then your plaster will “go off” (i.e. Set) to quickly and will need to be discarded. So, as a rule…

* Never use plaster that is going off – plaster is cheap so throw it away and start again.

* Never use plaster that is contaminated with anything.

3. Allow yourself the time to get the job done:

Plastering unquestionably progresses a lot quicker than many people imagine but it still takes time. A large part of your time will be setting up and cleaning away so plastering is not the kind of thing you can spend the odd hour on here and there. You unquestionably need at least a half day (3 to 4 hours) at it to make up for the time it takes to mix the plaster, cover and conclude your wall or walls and then clean and tidy away. My guidance is to allow at least 2 to 3 hours for the plastering (the time required for a typical wall as a beginner) and an hour whether way for set up and clean up. So, to give you an idea, yes you can get home from work at night and make some strengthen on your walls right after your supper but expect to be washing out your gear at midnight! But hey, its great than watching Tv so don’t let me stop you. great still allow yourself a full weekend to have a opening to get a whole room done as a total beginner.

4.  Make sure that  you have planned the job:

My guidance is not to bite off more than you can chew for starters. Plastering is always a race against the clock as I justify in my procedure when talking about the stages of the Golden method and how it works. Therefore, trying to plaster a whole room at once as a beginner (i.e. Trying to work on all 4 walls at once) will not be inherent and quickly turn what should be a satisfying job into bad taste in which nothing gets done to a good level.

I’d recommend as a beginner starting with just 1 outside at a time and feel free to leave the larger walls until last. All plasterers know in strengthen exactly what they intend to accomplish that day and plan accordingly. always avoid biting off more than you can chew because if you do you will quickly choke!

Make sure that before you start you have gone through the equipment checklist and have adequate plaster for the job as once you begin plastering and are working through the Golden method you will not have adequate time to leave the job long adequate to nip out for more materials.

And finally, one more word of warning:

Always turn off your mains power when plastering everywhere near any electrical socket, switch, light fitting or appliance. Mixed plaster is mainly water based and as I’m sure you know, mixing water and electricity is a potentially lethal combination. If in doubt always seek the guidance of a grand electrician and building surveyor before starting any plastering work.
